The 3 Minutes Thesis (3MT) Competition is an exercise in developing academic and research communication skills.
Research higher degree (PhD and Masters) students have three minutes to present a compelling oration on their thesis topic and its significance in language appropriate to an intelligent but non-specialist audience. Students are judged on communication style, comprehension and engagement with the audience.
The heats will be held within each of the Faculty's four academic schools and two students from each school will compete in the Faculty final. Two representatives will represent the Faculty at the University final which is held as part of the Research Tuesdays Seminar Series.
- How to Enter
Registrations close on the 30 June each year. To enter, complete the registration form online.
While only eligible students can progress to the Faculty and University finals, some Schools do allow ineligible students to compete at the School level. Contact your School's 3MT Coordinator to find out how the competition is run in your area.
