The Faculty of Sciences, in partnership with Wirltu Yarlu, provides one-off and ongoing support to science students during their time at the University of Adelaide.

The Faculty of Sciences Office is a great place to start for any issues relating to your study or if you're looking for a particular answer. If you need more detailed advice or assistance, we also offer the following services:

 

  • Indigenous Student Mentor
    Jenny Reiners
    Jenny Reiners is the Indigenous Student Mentor at the North Terrace campus.

    Jenny is available to have an informal chat with you about any issues that may be affecting your study (or your ability to engage with your studies), can help facilitate introductions for you to other university support services, assist you with scholarship applications and works closely with the staff in Wirltu Yarlu.

    Ian Nuberg
    Dr Ian Nuberg is the Indigenous Student Mentor at the Waite campus.

    Ian is available to have an informal chat with you about any issues that may be affecting your study (or your ability to engage with your studies), can help facilitate introductions for you to other university support services, assist you with scholarship applications and works closely with the staff in Wirltu Yarlu.

    Kat Ingram
    Kat Ingram is the Indigenous Student Mentor at the Roseworthy campus.

    Kat is available to have an informal chat with you about any issues that may be affecting your study (or your ability to engage with your studies), can help facilitate introductions for you to other university support services, assist you with scholarship applications and works closely with the staff in Wirltu Yarlu.

  • Indigenous Student Support Officer

    Sharon Kildare is the Indigenous Student Support Officer in our Faculty and can answer your questions, connect you with support services, or refer you to academic or professional staff within the Faculty. Some of the ways in which she can help include:

    • Enrolment and course selection
    • Advice about dropping or adding courses
    • Credit applications
    • Transfer advice
    • Study abroad/exchange opportunities
    • Advice about taking a break from study
    • Graduation and completions
    • Referrals to other university services
    • and more...

  • Wirltu Yarlu Tutorial Program

    As well as the Faculty of Sciences Academic drop in centres and PASS classes, students of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent are eligible for two (2) hours tuition per week per course, and an additional five (5) hours each semester for exam preparation, through the Wirltu Yarlu Tutorial Program (formerly known as ITAS).

    Tutors are available across our 4 major areas of study areas:

    • Biology
    • Chemistry
    • Geology
    • Physics

    We have tutors based at our North Terrace campus and also our Waite and Roseworthy campuses.

  • Scholarships

    As well as a host of undergraduate and postgraduate scholarships, we also offer some unique scholarship opportunities for Indigenous students studying in the Faculty of Sciences, including:

    There are also a variety of University wide scholarships available specifically to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.
