Koala health and disease in South Australia

Koala Health Research Group - Goldie

Join the Koala Health Research Group and contribute to key research to improve the health of current and future animal populations.

Researchers in the School of Animal and Veterinary Sciences investigate various aspects of koala health and disease in South Australia, such as kidney disease, Chlamydia and koala retrovirus.

We have honours research opportunities for students interested in koala health and disease. These projects will involve using tissue samples collected from affected koalas to analyse health status with various techniques such as histology, biochemistry and molecular analyses.

Our leading experts on koala health include Dr Natasha SpeightDr Wayne Boardman, Dr Lucy Woolford, Associate Professor Farhid Hemmatzadeh and Professor Darren Trott.

We invite you to contact us to discuss opportunities for honours research in this field.
