Animal Behaviour is integral to our understanding of animals and how we interact with them. We understand the science behind why animals behave in certain ways to better manage and protect them.
Animal behaviour can even help us to understand human behaviour. As leaders in this field, we pass on this wealth of research and teaching experience to our students.
Research
Our research encompasses companion animals, wildlife, and production animals. Behaviour is a critical element of animal welfare and an important research focus.

Extensive undergraduate and postgraduate teaching
Undergraduate degree
Our Bachelor of Science (Animal Behaviour) degree enables students to study the behaviour of all animals including cats, dogs, birds, horses, livestock, and wildlife. Students will learn about the biological drivers of behaviour and animal training, while exploring their own personal animal interests through intriguing research projects and internships.
Honours
Enhance industry connections, and develop specialisations through our comprehensive honours program in Animal Behaviour, based at our world-class research and teaching facilities. Be under the supervision of leading practitioners in the field. Previous examples of honours projects include: ‘acoustic communication in alpacas,’ ‘novel markers of animal emotion’ and ‘management of cats in local councils of Australia.’
