Applied Biology Study Abroad

Second Year International Exchange Program

Semester 2 of Second Year in the Applied Biology course offers students the ability to conduct the remainder of the year’s study in an overseas institution. Designed as a replacement for usual classes in Semester 2, participants gain international knowledge and experience while also covering the required subject material. While the two main partners that facilitate Exchanges are the University of Nottingham and North Carolina State University, students can also apply to any of the University of Adelaide’s partner institutions.

Tuition fees remain the same as participants in-effect pay for another Exchange student to study in their place. While expenses such as travel, accommodation and living expenses are self-funded, various options also exist to help cover these costs. These include OS-HELP loans, Centrelink support, and many scholarships both University and externally based. A full overview of financial support can be found at the University's Study Overseas page.

This Exchange Program to date has been highly successful, with students returning with a much greater understanding of their place in the International Community, as well as having made friends and contacts around the world that will no doubt prove beneficial in years to come.

What our students say.....

"I think my favourite part was the friends I made. Staying in the dorms meant I was able to meet a really wide variety of people.

I also joined a club with my friends and did several trips such as to London, Windsor Castle and Bath"

"As a genetics student, being able to study at one of the World's leading scientific institutes for part of my degree has opened up the possibility of pursuing career opportunities outside Australia after I graduate.

I really value this unique opportunity that the Applied Biology degree offered and I recommend the experience to other students"
